I'm just back from the show, cant make a proper review right now haha
the concert was great, the setlist as you may already know was the same, the charro/mariachi thing was not coldplay, the roadies were wearing the outfits but you already know that too haha
some things i can remember right now:
- Chris dedicating The Hardest Part "para mi papá" (for my dad) - at the beginning of one of the songs (cant remember which one) he asked the crowd to take one step back cus some guys in the front were getting hurt, it was pretty intense -We sang Cielito Lindo and the band sat down at the edge of the stage again to listen to us -No leftright given, quite dissappointed to be honest. At least i didnt get any and i saw nobody with one. Actually Chirs said that if we wanted the album we should visit ocesa.com.mx, though h had a hard time trying to pronounce/remember the name of the organizer haha

HI ! I got home a little while ago, and I have to say I was a little bit disappointed because of all of the pushing. I didn't get hurt or anything, I was just VERY very uncomfortable, and I'm pretty tall too, like I don't know how they survived, during the concert though I saw more and more people work their way to the back, I guess I can say I got like maybe, 6th row? I can't really tell, because we changed every few minutes, because of the pushing and things, I'm so happy that Chris found out and was like "If you love Coldplay, then you should stop pushing" and everyone stood still It was like amazing, after that the concert got even better, by hearing spanish rain and shiver.
Spanish rain was like so amazing. Bat for lashes were amazing.
I enjoyed myself so much! I even spotted Guy and Chris watching La Barron I believe, and then were with Natasha Kahn (lead singer of Bat for Lashes) When they were just about to go on! Everyone started finding out, it seemed like me and Stefan were the only ones that really KNEW a lot about the boys in our area Like Magnificent, Wayne, Jay, Miller, Hoppy
(ect.) Like I saw Miller and I freaked out, most people were like, "Who's he?" I was like I freaked out and kept calling his name and then he came out a took a picture of the crowd and a picture of everyone in the Mariachi outfits hahaha It was so epic! and then right before they went on stage, I saw Miller talking to someone, I couldn't make out who it was, and then I saw them do the huddle before the show it was so amazing that I saw that, and then I think Miller took pictures of that too I'm sure that he took a picture of the crowd, cause we all put our hands up I bought a R#42 shirt the street vendors had so many things for sale I was like freaking out the whole time !
But, if Miller uploads the pictures to coldplay.com tomorrow, that would be like, so epic, cause Iwould have seen him take them!
That's just awesome. I really think there will be a group hug thing too I just know it, I think Phil might have been with them too! I could see them backstage, Chris and Guy were dressed down too And chris was wearing his little green hat and like bending down, trying to hide He's so adorable ! ...
I was underneath the Butterflies completely, it was gorgeous seeing that up close and personal, it's nothing like pictures, same thing like seeing the boys live, it's amazing how they are just normal people, but they are so special at the same time. Seeing how they react with each other is priceless.
Strawberry Swing little jam session at the end of the song. Especially when Chris shout out to Jonny a whole bunch of times, like during yellow he's like "look at the stars, look how they shine for you *points to his right at Jonny* and all the things that you doooooooooooooo *shy smile*" I was like "GET MARRIED ALREADY" hahaha And I saw Guy smile a lot which was so adorable!
I just realised it looks like he's looking at me in this a bit!!! holy cow.
Nice natural shot Cause I know he really doesn't smile THAT much, I was so upset my camera died, but I got a few good pictures of them I have to say, when I first got in there, and people were pushing so much, I was really upset and like "Why did I do this, come all the way from JERSEY to see them in MEXICO" and then it all went away when I heard life in technicolor come on I was like, "Now I know why I came to see the beautiful boys live "
It was an experience of a lifetime, that i will never forget, and I'm glad to have this as a part of my life. It was the best decision to stay where i stayed, I got shoved around for Coldplay () I don't know if I would ever go back to Mexico for a concert, cause, if people were CROWD surfing like they were at a COLDPLAY CONCERT then I don't even want to know what the Killers, or like Muse is like... YES... CROWD SURFING, It was freaking insane man...
VIVA COLDPLAY (Don't stay away for too long please... ) These are the only pictures that I got, because my REALLY good camera died I was so upset AND here are the vans that they were in when they arrived at the hotel! I saw them arrive! I wish I could have met them
We were chatting with the photogs and they said that they wanted to put us in the newspaper because we travelled so far! hahah but The boys came out later on that night to go get some Chinese food, so they used that instead I mentioned Coldplaying also In El Norte!
I love you Coldplay ...

Wow. We JUST made it back to our hotel..
Time sure flies. We were present at the FIRST ever VIVA concert back at June 16, 2008 in London / Brixton Academy..and now the LAST one at Estadio Universitario, Monterrey, Mexico..also went to couple other shows inbetween these two at various times in 2008, 2009, 2010..but these 2 dates were extra special.
It's amazing to see how they improved themselves.. during this time frame.
After I arrived back to hotel..I'm asked myself - if this all could have been any better? The answer is no, it was just PERFECT. The show couldn't have been better as we say our goodbyes to the VIVA tour. It was pure MAGIC.
(lo&loud)
The show was good. The crowd didn't even begin to come close to the crowd in Guadalajara. There was some pushing at the begining of the show but it chilled out after the first couple of songs.
Had a huge problem with the hotel/ cab. When I checked in I asked about arranging a car service to bring and pick me up after the show. Hotel said they would arrange a cab for this. I told them he needed to drop us off where he wanted to pick us up so we would know where to find him. They said no problem. After the show he didn't return. Called the hotel, they tell me he had no intention of returning because there was traffic! No really, duh! And he wouldn't send a car to get us! We didn't even know where the cabs were at this venue. We had to wonder around and then none would stop for us. Finally a nice couple who were not from Monterrey offered to share a cab with us. The guy got one to stop and I paid their fair otherwise I might still be out on the street right now. The guy said " that's how it is in Mexico" no that's just how it is in Monterrey because the other two cities were perfectly fine.

Honey You Are a Rock
When I was 13, I was going through hell.
Music saves you. And when I was 13, only "Green Eyes" could soothe me, calm me, relax me, and give me a moment to think and breathe and rethink the screams that were building up inside me. "Green Eyes" was not the first Coldplay song I heard. It wasn't the first Coldplay song I fell in love with, or the reason I began to buy their records. But "Green Eyes" had the power of making me feel at home.
It's been said that there are more people in the world who hate Coldplay than those who love them. I, for one, do not understand who these people are. I've met these people, and some are friends. I've heard people say Coldplay's music is depressing, or pretentious, or stupid. I, for one, do not understand why these people believe this.
I've been waiting for years for Coldplay to come to my city. And I've been planning that concert with my best friend, whom I made a pact with that we would not go to our first Coldplay concert without each other. Which is why, after many opportunities of seeing them live in other cities, we waited until we could both go to Coldplay's first concert in Monterrey. That was last night, March 11 2010, when the band played at Estadio Universitario to close their Viva la Vida tour.
After a 10-hour bus ride from Austin and a 10-hour wait outside and in the stadium, my back out, my legs and feet sore, my eyes red and puffy from the lack of sleep, my mouth dry, the lights went out and I heard screams.
Coldplay's songs are not about sex. Coldplay's songs do not have the word "bitch" in every other verse. Coldplay's songs are not about getting wasted, or the curve of a fine ass.
Coldplay's songs speak of hope and urgency, confusion and dreams, they speak of loss and about finding a way back. They speak of belonging, friendship, possibility and politics and wishful thinking. They speak of freedom. They speak of fairness.
Chris Martin's voice is not the finest. It's far from perfect. Weird, even. Chris Martin's voice is pure and honest, the sound of heartbreak. The sound of peace.
When you see the four boys live, they look like just that- boys. Boys running around the stage, smiling tiny secret smiles when listening to the thousands of voices that know their music by heart.
Last night I cried. At first I cried of frustration, pain, tiredness, and because my best friend was nowhere to be seen. In midst of the madness, we lost each other. And then I cried for the music. And no, I was not the only one. And no, it was not only girls that cried last night. Coldplay's music does not only speak to girls, it does not only speak to gay men (like many straight Coldplay-hating men would think). It speaks to the hopeless, or the worried, the excited and eager, the joyful, the madly in love, the indecisive.
I tightly grasped a friend's hand last night while "Fix You" was playing. The lights bright and Martin at the piano, there was a silent wish that could be heard through everybody's singing.
The beauty of their music lies in the impact it has in its listeners. After seeing them live, all I wanted to do was write. Write while the memory of "Shiver" was still fresh in my mind and the image of Will Champion's smile was still infectious. And like I wanted to get home and write, I bet a lot of people left wanting to play the guitar, or paint, or take a photography course, or dance and laugh, or play soccer with more drive and confidence than they had before, or with a greater reassurance that one day they will accomplish what they've been wanting to accomplish.
"Green Eyes" wasn't played last night, and neither was "See You Soon", another one of my favorites. But it was an amazing night, a memorable night. And when I found my best friend outside the stadium after the concert, it did feel like the plan didn't go 100% like we wanted it to. But there'll be more nights like this, without the 10-hour bus ride and the sore feet.
And for those who say they hate Coldplay, I hope for their own sake that they give their music another listen.
All music has the potential of saving someone.

The Oracle on 11 March 2010: Estadio Universitario, Monterrey, Mexico
May 19, 2010 - submitted by Abraham, Mexico
Q. Dear Oracle, the last night show in Monterrey was amazing; however, my friends and I were a little bit confused by the presence of some mariachis near down the stage, were they supposed to make a performance? I went to Guadalajara's gig too and did not see any mariachis near the stage.
The Oracle replies:
There was no Mariachi band set to appear on that final night; it was the backline crew members who dressed up for fun as it was the very last concert of the Viva tour.

Q. Hola Oracle,
Como estas? I had the chance to go to the Monterrey gig and while the band was performing Yellow I saw Chis braking his guitar on the the stage! I wanna know why did he do that? Is it a sort of a tradition for him? BTW I loved the way that the guitars were decorated! Who painted them?
Muchas Gracias, Besos!
The Oracle replies:
Muy buen gracias. You know, I have to confess I did not even notice that on the night; I was too busy watching the crowd go nuts with the balloons. It's not a tradition in fact not a usual thing for Chris to do. I can only put that down to last night of tour adrenalin and knowing he wouldn't need it the following night but I can tell you, I am SO glad that wasn't a guitar that had been sold in the auction! Phew!
As mentioned previously all the guitars (bar one) were painted by Vicki, the band's personal assistant.

Q. During Monterrey's concert someone was wearing a donkey costume, who was in there and what was the reason of wearing it?
The Oracle replies:
There was a lot of dressing up on the last night of the Viva tour. The backline crew all wore traditional Mariachi costumes. Fransky, their tour manager, opted for a donkey costume. As you know burritos are a popular dish in Mexico and burrito means little donkey (in Spanish); there's your connection!

Q. Hi Oracle!
I went to last gig from the band in Mexico and I thought really funny the dancer who show up at the beginning of the gig and I was wondering, who's was the idea? Great show! Haha another thing, I know that yesterday was Guy's birthday, would you say happy birthday to Guy for me?
That's all thanks a lot.
The Oracle replies:
I have mentioned Wayne before as many people were curious to who he was but while I was in Latin America I got to meet the man in question and learn a little bit more.
Wayne Kwiat had been break-dancing for a laugh in the wings before Coldplay took to the stage. The crew would shine their lights on him and it was all a bit of fun before the show started. However, one night Chris's dad saw him and the next thing you know Wayne is performing onstage almost every night in front of very large crowds!
FYI: During the Latin American tour Wayne only appeared in Argentina, one night in Mexico City and the final night in Monterrey.

Q. Dear Oracle, a week ago a friend of mine told me the band had stayed in Monterrey in the hotel next to mine, Quinta Real, I honestly couldn't believe it. Ever since I've been regretting not going next door to try get an autograph. I'm just wondering, If I had gone outside Coldplay's hotel in Monterrey would Ive had good chances of getting an autograph from the band?
The Oracle replies:
Hmmm I always say better to regret what you did than what you did not so in this case don't torture yourself with what ifs. So rather than add to your misery I shall just say... you didn't try so you'll never know. Oh dear, seem to be quoting Coldplay songs in my answer...
March 26, 2010 - submitted by Angela, United States of America
Q. Dear Oracle
it comes to my attention that every time I look at ur pictures I can not find any of Monterrey, and I wonder why are you leaving Monterrey behind??? There was not a single after show article and not puppet picture and not a single picture is your album!! I'm a little sad because me and friends from the US travel all the way to Monterrey to see the show and yet it looks like it wasn't that important to you like it was for us!!
Anyway, still love you!!!!
Good day!!
The Oracle replies:
I always notice that wherever the last date of the tour, the less is shown or written. Try and take it as pure exhaustion. Sometimes Roadie #42 reports back or we will have photos but at the moment it's all very spontaneous...
The photos of Bat for Lashes in my 'album' were taken in Monterrey.
I love the fact that you aren't actually from there but feel hard done by!
It was very important and we had a great time; I did report back that I think the crowd was the loudest of the tour...
March 19, 2010 - submitted by Romy, Mexico
Q. Dear Oracle:
I love the idea of the staff wearing the Mariachi customs in the Monterrey concert. Did they use customs from all the countries were Coldplay played? Or was the fact that the Mariachi custom is so cool? At least I think so...jaja.
I send a lots of hugs to all the people that make possible the best gig I've ever been!!! That includes you, dear Oracle :)
The Oracle replies:
Costumes were only worn on the last night. As that last night happened to take place in Mexico and the Mariachi costumes are so cool - as are the musicians - it was an idea hatched out of a night of Tequila drinking. You can see in Roadie #42's blog that Neil wore his on the flight home to London too. He looked great when we were checking in at Mexico City airport but it has to be said it seemed a little ridiculous when collecting his bags at the carousel at Heathrow!
We were all hoping customs would stop him and ask where he was flying in from!
March 11, 2010 - submitted by Fernando, Mexico
Q. Dear Oracle... will there be any surprises on the Monterrey Viva gig this Thursday, since it is the last show of the tour? How are the guys taking it?
The Oracle replies:
There has been talk of this over breakfast. It remains to be seen but we haven't long to wait. No doubt both Roadie #42 and myself will report any special occurrences at the very last Viva show... which reminds me, no-one has mentioned that Chris launched into Parachutes in Guadalajara which was an unexpected delight.
