SUNRISE suffered a setback today after chart-topping band Coldplay cancelled their heavily promoted appearance on the Channel 7 breakfast show.
The UK rockers were due Down Under at the end of next week.
Sunrise had been promoting a special live performance by Coldplay on next Friday’s show.
“Coldplay cancelled their Aussie promo tour this morning - they were due here end of next week,” a Seven spokesperson said.
The Coldplay no-show is a blow for Sunrise, which is in a fierce ratings battle with Nine’s Today.
The band later released a statement saying their planned mini-tour to Sydney had been delayed due to "personal reasons".
The foursome were due to play to small audiences for Sunrise and 2Day FM and were expected to announce plans for a more comprehensive tour down the track.
But fans may not have too long to wait, with a hint of a big tour coming in an official statement.
"We sincerely apologise to our Australian fans for having to postpone next week's scheduled trip," the band announced.
"We miss you guys and we promise we'll make it up to you. In fact, stay tuned for a big announcement soon."
