I am still quite speechless - they totally rocked Wembley!!!! It was amazing!!!! The audience and whole atmosphaere was amazing!
Sooooooooooooo happy to have the guys back home - in Chris words "...it's nice to have a home come back to!".
I am sure I will have tears streaming down my face tomorrow!

Unbelieveable concert - Far too much to tell you so I will keep this review snappy and concentrate on the pics. Decided not to take up a position for front row and instead went for the beer and seat option - but the C-Stage which was still quite empty at around 6pm was becoming too hard to resist. Got front row with the band facing us and Simon Pegg with a cameo roll again! There were one or two idiots in the crowd almost starting fights because of the pushing and shoving. The end of the concert was fun with several Coldplayers taking handfuls of LRLRL CDs and distributing them to the leaving crowd, especially Chavi who almost got mobbed by 20 people when they realised she was holding a full box. Also, hi to the guy I spoke with at the C-stage about running the Coldplaying site!
[busybeeburns]
Ok so I love Coldplay and was really looking forward to this gig. But when I want to see Coldplay, I want to see them, not them and Simon Pegg and NOT THEM AND JAY-Z for goodness sake. It was bad enough having him as a support but when he turned up in Lost I couldnt believe it.
Having said that, I loved the rest of the gig, and I liked the comedy stuff too. Chris Martin really is a terrific front man!

Went to Wembley on the 18th. A good deal of the crowd were leaving before the end and it was a sign that it was only an OK concert. There lots of pauses and not enough energy ( and a backing track for keyboards sometimes). And 90 minutes? I think we deserve better/more than that. I thought the boys were a bit self indulgent - it's for the fans after all - and we didn't pay to see Simon Pegg, even though I like him. CP don't need support acts, we just need to see more of them. Maybe the big venue didn't help.
[danm]
My friend, my mum and I arrived ast the venue at around half past 1 and joined the queue. We met some awesome people who gave us advice and laughed with us when my friend decorated my face with sharpie pen! The organisation of the queue was excellent and I loved the radio wembley sort of thing that was playing.
We ran as fast as we could and couldn't believe our luck when we were situated quite central ( more to Guy's side) about 3/4 rows back from the barrier. White Lies were awesome - it was a shame they had such a short set, would have loved to here taxidermy and from the stars live but oh well. Girls aloud were rubbishy, but were bearable and my friend kinda likes them so it wasn't too horrific.
Then Jay-z. Well he isn't usually my cup of tea but man he owned that stage! I thought "Empire State of mind" when Bridget Kelly came on stage was pretty awesome, 99 problems was also great!
Then Coldplay, wow! Mr Martin was in top form leaping around everywhere, and the crowd were great! I thought IMP was great and Lost+ with Jay-z was bloody fantastic. I absalutely love the Talk/GPASUYF techno remix thing, its so good! Chris doing The Hardest Part was just beautiful - "I offered this song to take that but they rejected it" lol and postcards was plain brilliant!
When the buuterflies came down during LIJ it was just a magical moment, as you all know! What a concert... I'm still reeling from it. After the gig finished I managed to get part of the yellow balloon that Chris popped onstage and stuffed my bag full of butterflies. Going to the tube was also magical, walking down wembley walk with all those fans sing ooowaaahoowohoo was incredible.
Best. Night. Ever.

Waiting, waiting, waiting... After seeing Coldplay 5 times (Rotterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Nijmegen, Nijmegen) the first Wembley show was the big finale of this tour for me. I wanted to get there as early as possible and I managed to get there at about 11.00. By then, there were ~25 people and the wait began. The weather was good, there were toilets and food nearby, so the wait wasn't even so hard! There were a couple of Coldplayers with Coldplaying t-shirts in the queue, but not much and I had no idea who they were. At 15.30 everybody suddenly stood up and lots of people who were sitting behind me suddenly now stood before me. When the gates opened and we walked/runned towards the far right gates, I was one of the first to get through (don't know what happened to the people who were going to the left, as I was one of the first to enter the field). We started running down the stairs, were told to slow down, slowed down, but when we saw people coming from the other side, we started running again and all three of us made it first row (again!)! Everyone was pushing, alot more than in Nijmegen. I didn't really care as I had food and drinks with me and didn't have to use the toilet. A funny moment during the wait was when my friend asked to throw away his banana peel in the garbage can. So, I threw it away, being surprised by the reaction of the security people who were taking it out of the garbage can, because it was actually a water supply for the crowd. Oops! So, if anyone though there water tasted like bananas, they were right!
White Lies White Lies were great again, just as in Nijmegen. The singer seemed much more into it and looked really happy (and nervous) to play such a big stadium. Their set was a little shorter though.
Jay-Z Girls Aloud were ok (although the Girls Aloud fans were annoying - they even had the best spots and remained there during the Coldplay show ), but Jay-Z was really brilliant. It was almost like everybody came for him! I didn't know most of his songs, but that didn't matter at all. The downside of standing front row is the sound, which was quite... loud. Jay-Z's show was great and I managed to take some nice pics.
Coldplay I'd like to begin with something negative this time. It's because, during the Coldplay concert I didn't have the wow-feeling as I had the week before in Nijmegen. It probably has something to do with the show being almost the same as last year and me being a little tired of Viva. That being said, I still enjoyed myself, especially during songs as In My Place, Yellow, Glass of Water, Politik and Lovers in Japan. Other highlights were the appearances of Simon Pegg and Jay-Z coming back to sing Lost+. The guys also seemed much more into it than in Nijmegen, more laughing, more enthusiasm (especially Jonny, I have a video of him going 'wild' during 42), more jokes. I hoped for a little more front row interaction, but for the third time: there was none. I'll might make a banner next time, to improve my chances.

I won some tickets to the 18th Fri show and was in the comfy seats reserved seating section. I really went to see Jay-Z and the missus to see Girls Aloud. I have to say I was blown away by the whole Coldplay experience though, I REALLY enjoyed it. The Left Right cd they gave away is a really good listen too and brings back the gig in full flood!
[crjmcc]
We got back from London yesterday and it's great to see all these pictures and video's of the Coldplay concert at Wembley. It's like being there again! What a great show it was! Next time I'll try to get some standing places, sitting is relaxed but also very hard when you hear Coldplay play their music.
[Gitta1977]
needless to say the concert was absolutely amazing..... this was my first Coldplay concert and I spent the whole weekend in my head, pretending I was still there Friday was the worst actually 'cos I was looking at the time thinking "I got there at that time yesterday...... this is when I got in..... this is when I reached my perfect place in 2nd row...... they're probably on stage right now *aaaaah*..."
[maccassidy]
OK finally home and rested and have uploaded my pics and videos.
Friday was just amazing. I think I was almost as excited about Wembley Stadium as I was about Coldplay. I so wanted some grass off the pitch but the flooring was locked down. squeeeee it's Wembley
Anyway. We got there early. I had bought the tickets for the first night so I went to queue at the box office while everyone else went and got in the different queues so we could have someone in each line til we found out which line we had to be in. Ian soon joined me at the box office. The ticket companies really screwed the pooch on these shows.
Turns out it was all for nothing as it didn't matter how early you lined up as much as which line you were in or rather which crew was running your queue because although we were right at the front of our queue, our gate wasn't let in as quickly as others, so we ended up 6 rows back.
White Lies were good. I have heard some of their stuff but didn't know that much about them. Their singer turned out to wayyyyyyyyyy prettier than I expected.
Girls Aloud. I see why no one in the US has heard of them. What a pile of kack! I didn't think anything could be worse than the pussy cat dolls, but I was so very wrong. The ginger one is a man, I am almost sure of it. I think the fact they kept talking shit about how everyone came out to see them was the worse part. NO ONE CAME TO SEE YOU CUNTS, GET OFF THE FUCKING STAGE!. The colors...it was like an Easter Egg exploded. None of them can sing. None of them can dance. WTF! How could William Champion allow this to happen?
Jay Z was just out of this world fucking awesome! He had the crowd in an instant and really worked the crowd. Just brilliant.
Coldplay was their usual brilliant selves. I was a bit worried that Chris would still be sick especially since he came out with the scarf on, but I thought he sounded great.
Down sides: The security on this night was lame. People smoking all around us. We had to beg and plead for some water. Someone pissed in a cup. But the worse part was the guy next to me smelled like a dead fish. Not a little smelly, but the most putrid thing imaginable. Finally I couldn't take it any more and had to move back because it was making me sick. I had to wash the inside of my nose with toothpaste back at the hotel to get the smell out.
I didn't shoot my usual amount of pics and videos because I just wanted to enjoy these last two shows.

After a wonderful night spent along with a lot of Coldplaying and Coldplayzone users, i woke up at 6.30 with a sentence in my head: 'TODAY WE DO THE HISTORY'. So, i tried to organize everything to be in the very first line. In five minutes i'm in a store to buy cookies and water for the queue waiting moment. And then in the Tube, trying to reach Wembley as soon as possible. I was feeling excited! Due to some technical problems, i had to go out of my tube line 1 km far from the stadium. Doesn't matter: 'TODAY WE DO THE HISTORY'. The group is Gabriele (Coldplayzone's webmaster), his great friend Giovanni, Simone (.:Fix You:. on this board) and me. The best fellowship i could ask for. At 10 am i'm in the queue, entrances B or C. I'm the 15th, more or less. There there's someone from Coldplaying yet: airieslady from Orlando (i took a photo with her to demonstrate how a passion is strong to every italian on Twitter), a nice girl from Alaska (i don't remember the nickname, sorry, but she was with her mom) and Jiamin and her friend. And obviously Denise Iriden, the most important roadie for Coldplayzone (12 gigs attended during this tour).
Thanks to Barbara and Jiamin, we started to give the yellow glowsticks to anyone in the queue. The majority of the people don't know how it works, probably they didn't read anything on Coldplaying or Coldplayzone. Shit! By the way, at 3.50 we started to reach Wembley GA. Excitement in all the ways! At the end, i'm in the second line along with my fellowship proud men and a lot of italians. Chris is in the very first line. Happy to see him there! White Lies moment: absolutely great! The drummer is awesome, but in general they will be the best opening act of the night. Girls Aloud moment: only a question: Why Girls Aloud had the chance to perform in Wembley? They're only four top models and one singer, stop! Jay-Z moment: for R&B and hip-hop lovers, i think he's a god! Very good singer indeed, i have to say the truth. But i want Coldplay there, 'cause TODAY WE DO THE HISTORY! And, after Blue Danube (a lot of arms thru the sky), they are there! Life in Technicolor guitar startet to be played, and 80.000 were in the seventh heaven!
Best moments: In My Place chorus, too big! - Glass Of Water, great performance and great images on the big screen - Simon Pegg - Politik, absolutely the best live song in the best gig - Jay-Z recognize myself during the final credits thanks to my paper crown! - Viva La Vida first note after Postcards, i think that if someone has to die, it's much better to die on that note!
Worst moments: mistakes during The Hardest Part (as always happened) - GPASUYF/Talk section, a shit for every Coldplay gig IMHO - too far from Coldplaying users - Jay-Z featuring on Lost!
[coldpatrix]
I just can’t believe that exactly a week ago I heard the “Ladies and Gentlemen, the turnstiles are now open” announcement!! It’s another world… a great one!!! I think I'm addicted to concerts now...
Friday morning I picked up Perrine at the train station and we made our way to the Bakery as it was Perrine’s only possible “time slot” to go there. Guess who we met? Maria and her husband! London appeared so tiny already after accidentally bumping into 3 coldplayers on Thursday! We had a lovely time walking to the tube station together and talking in about 3 languages at once
We went back to the hotel, dropped Perrine’s bag in my tiny (but hey, it was clean!!) hotel room and waited for Carol and her friend to arrive. Just minutes after checking in the 4 of us were on our way to Wembley! I had bought Frank’s spare pit ticket on Thursday and gave my other ticket to Perrine. This way she could see the concert and we didn’t have to make plans for her what to do during the concert!
Once arrived we briefly said Hi to all the lovely people in yellow shirts and Noelia and me sat down on my yellow blanket in the queue. Perrine, Carol and her friend stayed with us, which was nice as they had seats and had to go to a different entrance later.
There was music being played through the speakers outside and I started dancing there already
Josh from Australia approached us and spent some time in the queue with us:
Was lovely to meet you! Hope you had a nice time in the pit!
And we had some party-animal-visitors!! Thanks again for taking the blanket!!
Noelia, Joe, Ian and me wanted to enjoy the concert from the seats… best decision ever. Everything was so relaxed! Most people wanted to stand in the pit anyways which gave us the free choice of where to sit down. Later we were joined by Barbara as well!
I made a walk around the stadium and took some pics from different angles, here in this one you can see Kirsten and her friend for example!!
This guy wanted to be in the picture, the other one obviously didn't The atmosphere was so great...
Ian and Joe:
The time passed so quickly until White Lies came on stage!! I really really liked them the first time already and bought their CD on Sunday before the picnic. Before I went to work today I bought my ticket for next month’s concert near my town to see them again!! And it’s a small venue this time… Can’t wait to go there and sing from the top of my lungs “Let’s grow old together….”.
Noelia and me even went down in the pit during their set to dance a little
A visit to Kirsten et al. at the C-stage made Ian and me think... there was still enough space!
But first it was time for Girls Aloud… I think the pictures I took speak for themselves:
Ian, totally impressed:
Joe and Noelia suffering:
Others enjoyed it however:
So before Jay-Z went on Ian and me went to the C-stage!!! That was one great decision. It was funny to get to know some fellow smokers as well. We kept the poor security guys busy… but it was so funny when there was a shot from further back during Jay-Z’s set: Soooo many clouds of smoke
I was hugely surprised about myself just how much I enjoyed Jay-Z. I guess I annoyed some people coughKirstenandIwonacough with my dancing Sorry girls, I liked it!! Especially “Empire State Of Mind”.
During the break I prepared my text message to Chavi, I promised to write when Magnificient comes on… but there wasn’t So I edited and texted when the Blue Danube was being played…
Means it’s time for the boys to come on stage!
View from the C-stage to the main stage:
...and back:
To be honest I just started listening to the LRLRL CD to help my brain come up with some more memories I can only say that I enjoyed myself a lot and to see the animations during Glass of Water from further back was just awesome. I filmed Yellow completely… so funny with the X-Factor bit! Oh and it was a great relief to see that the crowd was into it. Nothing compared to Saturday in my opinion but then I wasn’t at the same spot on Sat!
Around VLV it became more and more crowded around the C-stage… so I didn’t get that much of Lost+ as I would have wanted but what was about to come was worth it though! Ian said he’d take pics so I filmed the C-stage. Maybe you’ve seen Iwona’s video of Jackie checking out Kirsten’s banner, this is when I started filming as well.
It was so surreal to see them walking up to the stage directly in front of us! But then the big disappointment came: They were barely audible. All the sound came from the front!! Which means that we could hear the actual sound of their instruments but not really what it was intended to sound like. And I won’t upload that video until I found a good video of someone else to replace the sound with
This is the Billie Jean part at least:
YouTube - Coldplay, Simon Pegg - Wembley Stadium (18th) - Mexican Wave, Billie Jean
I know many of you wanted to hear them play Trouble but I just don’t like that C-stage version. Any other song would have been better in my opinion. But that’s the only negative thing I want to say
It was over all too quick! Ian and me said bye to the others and went back to our seats where Noelia and Joe were. You two are the best!!! It was great to see the last part of the concert together with you! What is stuck in my mind the most is Joe saying “OMG I love this song so much” when Lovers in Japan started.
During the Scientist I just made way for allowing Noelia and Joe to cry together
After the concert we went outside and it was so funny to see OUR girls handing out the LRLRL CDs!!
Chris:
Such a cute pic!!!
My friend Patz was working at Wembley on both nights, so funny! She had wristbands which allowed her to walk around in all levels with the date printed on and although she didn't get WHY I wanted to have them... she gave them to me It's a nice souvenir. She liked the concerts as well btw
It was so funny that you could spot people with VIVA bags or T-shirts all the time, wherever you went in London - there was someone around who had been to a Coldplay concert!
That's it so far I think!

Media Reviews
8/10
It pains me that Girls Aloud are as average as they are tonight, as that’s primarily the reason why I’m here. I’ve been bought a ticket in the knowledge that there may never be any more live performances by the quintet, but the fact that they’re playing a mere 40 minute set at 6pm is a real organisational oversight. An even bigger cock-up however is the Girls’ setlist choice. Their performance is perfectly passable, but the material itself lets them down; a sickly cover of ‘I’ll Stand By You’, a lacklustre version of ‘Something Kinda Oooh’ and an unnecessary take on Robyn’s ‘Every Heartbeat’ are all wasted opportunities. Things are somewhat rectified when the layered vocals pull together for the heart-melting chorus on ‘Call the Shots’ but even a dynamic rendition of the appropriately titled ‘The Promise’ leaves you feeling like it’s too little, too late.
Whereas Jay-Z’s performance is downright brilliant. Despite my seat being nearer Brentford than the stage, Jay-Z impressively manages to make the stage his own within seconds and fill the gargantuan arena thanks in no small part to having two drummers and a fuckload of volume at his disposal. ‘On to the Next One’ and ‘Dirt Off Your Shoulder’ sound immense, with a great deal of the standing audience bouncing along with Jay-Z’s instructional hand gestures. ‘D.O.A.’ mixes in with the rest of his material seamlessly and the ever reliable ’99 Problems’ provides a great opportunity for 100,000 middle aged people to mock practise their air-scratching. Hell, even the slightly pompous-on-record ‘Empire State of Mind’ is elevated to modern classic status, in no small part due to Alicia Keys stand-in Bridget Kelly’s haunting vocals.
Throughout, Jay-Z manages to strike that difficult balance between being a solo superstar and a loveable down-to-earth chap, stopping to point out various American Football shirts in the crowd he approves of or ladies’ haircuts. Such is the feel good factor in the stadium that the four safety stewards next to me begin taking 15 minute shifts to cover one another in order to go dance down the front. After an hour, Jay-Z cements his place as a global phenomenon and leaves the stage to a pumped up, wholly appreciative room of converted fans, no doubt adding to the ones he collected at last year's Glastonbury.
Confession time: truth be told, I don’t hold any hope of Coldplay touching their warm up, seeing as I have no more than a passing interest in them. It’s not that they’re bad, or dislikeable. Just so…. beige? Even their name sounds a bit limp. However it will be eternally baffling to me that the band has always attracted such a venomous level of hatred, mainly because their music is merely far too pleasant to waste anger on. Coldplay have always worked around musical structures at their most base and therefore if it’s not for you it’s easy enough to ignore. But it would appear that whilst we’ve been largely overlooking their progress, Coldplay have now fully grown into what those subtle, fledgling EPs hinted at: much like Jay-Z, they are now fully-rounded global stars, and tonight is as good a performance as you’ll likely ever see from a rock band that straddles such a broad music-loving spectrum.
The live show itself is grand and one that - in print - will likely sound appalling; featuring a heavily scripted interchange between Martin and a giant Simon Cowell video, a Mexican wave of mobile phones, Simon Pegg fleetingly joining the band playing harmonica on a makeshift ‘impromptu’ stage and U2-esque pyrotechnics. But in actuality, there’s something massively endearing and human about the entire evening that breaks up the seriousness (and occasional similarity) of the slightly excessive 26 songs.
The set is understandably Viva La Vida heavy, with the band’s best record to date A Rush of Blood to the Head also heavily filtering proceedings, but the difference between the formers recorded rendition and the live translation is a world apart. ‘Life in Technicolor’ bookends the gig, creating a stunning sense of anticipation; the new album's title track manages to join an entire stadium in song, which echoes long into the tube ride home; and lesser known tracks such as ‘Death and All His Friends’ and ‘42’ sound colossal when allowed to spread their wings, encroaching previously uncharted territory for the band which many Radiohead fans would claim as solely theirs.
Former glories naturally get the warmest greeting, whether it’s the early unveiling of the somehow-still-mesmerising piano line of ‘Clocks’, an empty arena being magically filled with giant balloons in a three second blackout as breakthrough hit 'Yellow' fades in, the epic intro to ‘Politik’ nearly deafening everyone, or the huge sing-a-long that is sparked by ‘God Put a Smile Upon Your Face’. Or indeed ‘Trouble’. Or ‘Talk’. Or ‘Fix you’… This is in no small part due to Martin understanding that a snappy couplet is more memorable than a piece of prose yet - when handled delicately - ultimately more rewarding. In fact when you hear these songs all together, you realise just how good a back catalogue the band has, even if it is perhaps still a little too one-dimensional to be regarded alongside some of their peers.
To many readers of this site, Coldplay will likely never be more than a passing name, and I suspect this review or anything barring a night in their presence will do anything to alter that. It somehow feels too easy to fall for their charms. Yet there is a natural, unpolished energy to their performance tonight that is joyous to behold and feel part of. And if they’re good enough for a beaming Jay-Z to want to get back in on the act, returning to sing ‘Lost+’ with the band towards the close, then just maybe they should be good enough for us too.

Jay-z Wrestles Martin During Coldplay Concert
Rap superstar JAY-Z stunned his pal CHRIS MARTIN on Friday (18Sep09) when he joined the rocker and his band COLDPLAY onstage during their London concert and began wrestling him to the ground.
The Run This Town hitmaker, real name Shawn Carter, has been entertaining fans as the support act on Coldplay’s current U.K. tour - but he had a surprise in store for Martin when the Violet Hill stars performed at Wembley Stadium.
According to reports, Jay-Z appeared on stage as Martin was playing a song on the piano and embraced him in a bear hug before playfully tackling him to the floor.
The friends rolled around on stage before Martin managed to climb to his feet and resume his set.
A source tells OK.co.uk, “It was a strange moment, Everyone went wild when Jay-Z joined the boys on stage but seeing him grab Chris away from the piano and on to the floor was a bit weird to say the least.”
But that wasn’t the audience’s only surprise - Star Trek actor Simon Pegg also joined Coldplay at their London gig and showed off his skills on the harmonica during the band’s rendition of Trouble.
Jay-Z and Martin have been close friends since collaborating in the studio together in 2006 and the pair is regularly spotted out on dinner dates with their respective wives Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow.
