Hello everybody! Just arrived at my hotel! We arrived there veeeerry early in the morning, had the hardest day ever (40oC, Rio?) but as you saw Coldplay's concert Rocked Rio indeed!!!

The crowd was insane and the band felt and connected to it! They were all soooo thrilled!!!

Promise to write a proper review later, but I'm dying now

I'm glad you all enjoyed the concert :Nice:

Sarah's setlist

So, I went to Rio on Thursday (29th) and all I wanted was to sleep properly coz I knew It wouldn’t be easy to do all that I wanted to in this crazy weekend I had ahead of me. So I did it, and Friday afternoon I was feeling ready for the battle. =) I say that cause here in Brazil the lines start really early, people are hardcore when it comes to this kind of concerts, and everyone were really over-excited for this one in particular.

So, we know that Coldplay always stay in this one hotel, so all the coldplayers settled a meeting there to see if we could meet with band, get some pictures/autographs and such. Some of them got there Friday (30th) right after lunch, but I only managed to do so at 4pm. When I got there they said to me that they’ve seen Phill and that he said that maybe the band would come down later, and as they were saying it Chris and Jonny started to wave to us in the window and everyone got really excited and some of us started to sing every Coldplay song we could think of (especially the oldies) then, after some time we started to sing Paradise and Miller (Roadie #42) showed in the balcony and started taking pictures of us, then he came downstairs and asked us if we could sing it again and filmed the whole thing (so, maybe he’ll post it in coldplay.com  ).

After that we saw Franksy and Dan Portainer in the hotel bar and they took pictures of us  But the time passed and our guys were still inside in the middle of a bunch of interviews… Finally after hours of waiting Kelly came downstairs and we knew the time was coming! There were barriers so we were in a long line in front of the hotel entrance. Jonny boy came out, took pictures and signed things to a amazed crowd. He is a very sweet guy, so caring and smiling all the time :wacky: And thank God for that coz I had a mission: I wanted to get something signed by him to Ellen for her wedding :D

When he came closer to me I told him that I had a friend that loved him very much and she wanst there coz she was getting married in the next day, so he wrote a message to her: “Ellen, congrats on your marriage! Love, Jonny from Coldplay”. After that I told him that I loved how he combined so many different riffs in Hurst like Heaven and he gave me the most beautifull smile and thanked me. Then it was time for Will, and he was even kinder that Jonny :cheesy: He signed ALL of my stuff (it was a lot of CD’s, singles, and such) and asked me what was my favorite song and I said Such a Rush and he said “oh my, that’s an old one!” and I said that I was loving the drum part of ETIAW and he said thanks. Then we took a picture and he thanked us all for waiting for so long and for going to concert, he asked if we were the ones singing ealier and we said yes and he said that they really liked to hear us  and all I could think of were “but we were singing terrible :P”

Chis was next, and it all became a blur, coz everyone got even more thrilled and we couldn’t even hear his voice! But he still signed a lot of stuff and took some pictures, and in a minute he was back inside.

After that we went home, ate, took a shower and got in the line at 3am :uhoh: And we weren’t the first ones!! There were aprox. 10 in the line for a week or so :dead:. The place was huge, crowded and confusing cause there were people leaving from Friday’s concert, so we went looking for Mel, Laura and the girls from Argentina, cause we were afraid they might get lost in that mess. We found then so we talked and talked until the morning… more of our friends arrived (Paula, Livia and Cris) and at 7:30 we started to hear some noises from the stage (that was really, really, really far from the line) and Paula, Livia and I started to run to some place where we could hear it properly. As we were running the sound became clear and it was ETIAW!!  we found the “staff entrance” and got in  We were still far from the stage, but we could see Chris in his piano, Will stretching his arms and Guy sitting in one of those big black instrument boxes :awesome: after some time they played a song we couldn’t recognize and then Guy played some bits of the Midnight Cowboy theme (his favorite song according to NME) but some people from security saw us and told us to leave the place :( but after that we didn’t hear nothing more…

At 2pm we “run for our lives” to get to the front row and we got there! Livia and I were between Chris’ and Guy’s places, a very good place to be :sneaky: but it was very, very hot and we had to stand there in the sun until the end of the concert or lose the spot… From 2pm until aprox. 1am when the concert started. Most of our friends couldn’t stand the heat and the exhaustion of standing in the sun with 100,000 people pushing you, without even going to the bathroom... Lots of fans passed out, even Melissa and Laura had to go to back of the crowd... But they're fine now, Thank God!

It was hard to breath, my legs were killing me, but everytime I thought of giving up the front row I looked to Chris' piano in a corner of the satge and the amount of time I waited to see this concert, so with the help of Livia and your Coldplay Karma, I made it!

When 99 ploblems started to play it was like non of this were happening, I got my strenght back! MX/Hurts like Heaven is even better live than I imagined. Oh my, Jonny's riffs, I'm so amazed by the way he makes so many different riffs sound so in harmony, you know... and the energy of this song its just the best way to get the crowd in the mood for the concert! Then it was time for the good and old Yellow and the crowd just went insane, my God, they were jumping, and singing. During In My Place it was even better! And, as if he had to do any other thing to catch our attention, Chris got a spray can and wrote Ri<3 (a heart in the place of the 'o') in the stage!! :awesome:

And Major Minus was a surprise for me, cause didnt liked it that much, but it seriously is something else when you're singing and jumping, and Guy was seriously enjoying it! When Paradise started everyone was singing and I knew that the front row was really full of coldplayers <3 and we could see that they were astonished with us singing it, it was amazing! This song is much better live indeed. The highlight of concert for me was God put a simle. I know it is an old song, but Jesus, the way they play it now....:smug: is just pure awesomness!! They start it slowly, then accelerate it, then rock it! I loved it!

Another time I got really stunned was when Charlie Brown started, Holy shit, I jumped and screamed and sang it, and basically got inse :laugh3: so much that Chris looked straight to my friends and I and waved :dead:

And I went crazy during ETIAW too  I started to move my arms, dance, I dont know how I managed to move so much when it was so crowded hahahahaha, but then it was over and I just sat in the ground, I couldnt move! But it wasnt for long, cause people were practically jumping in my feet. So I got up and all of a sudden someone gave me a paper and when I looked at it, IT WAS THE SETLIST!!!! I couldnt believe my luck, seriously!

Oh yeah! Brazilian fans were fantastic. I travelled from Argentina to Rio only to see Coldplay and there I met Sarah, Paula and beautiful people (I don't remember all their names but Livia and Mary are some of them) and they all were nice to my and my friends. They were so kind, and once ine concert everybody showed respect and happiness while coldplay was on stage. They made the guys feel comfortable and warm. From one fan to the other: Thanks Brazilian people for making them feel like that! I jumped and sang till my my throat hurted. Literally.

I arrived with my friends (Mel, Romi, Jime and Lili) to Rio on Friday morning very early and we headed directly to their hotel where we were going to meet Paula and all the other Brazilian fans. We met them and we were so happy to finally meet them, especially Paula (Paulinha coldplay) who did a lot for us. We'll be forever grateful to her! After a while there, Phil came out and we talked to him- we told him we had flown from Argentina just to see Coldplay and he said "Argentina! Oh, I lived there for a while, did you know?" "yeah, we did " "you did?" and he signed my journal and our flag and he took our presents for the guys and promised to give them to them. Later, more coldplayers arrived including Sarah, who was super friendly and lovely to us! I couldn't wait to meet her and I'm so happy that I did! Brazilian Colplayers sing beautifuly! Everyone outside started singing and Chris and Jonny waved to us from the balcony . A few hours later, after a long wait, Chris, Jonny and Will decided to come out and say hi to us. I couldn't believe it! They had done that whe they came to Argentina, but I had to work and I missed it so I couldn't believe it was finally happening! They were all super patient and kind to us! They all signed my journal and I took a photo with Will (he took it himself, making sure the pic was alright before moving on to the next person ) and with Chris!

Then at 2 am we went to queue for the gig, there were lots of people coming out from the place and we couldn't find Sarah and the guys at first but then we did and everything was alright. We spent the night there and the whole day. It was very hot and the places to get food were really far away from were we were. However, we all had an amazing time together. Then at 2pm, everything started. I had never run so much for something I wanted in my life, I swear. We made it with Mel to the third row, but we were exahusted, the heat was suffocating and the sun was shining brightly above us..and we had 11 hours ahead of us of waiting Well, a few hours later, I passed out and after I was released from the nurses, we found another spot, it was quite early still so we managed to move quite near, but not near as good as before, but from there we were able to enjoy the show and see them quite close.

The gig blew me away, it was fantastic, they were happy to be there, you could see it. Not that they weren't at any other place but you could see playing there was sort of "special". and the crowd was amazing! During yellow everyone had their yellow balloons and we had also glowsticks for ETIAW and people were truly enjoying it. Singing, dancing, moving and jumping. I had the best time ever! The sound was really good and the guys were flawless, even Chris' fuck up was funny. Jonny was rocking out like never before, or so it seemed, it was truly an amazing performance. After the gig, we had to rush back to the hostel to collect our things cause we had to catch our flight at 6:30 back to Buenos Aires-many people from the Coldplay crew boarded the same flight don't know why, I guess they flew to South Africa from Buenos Aires? Anyways, it was the best experience ever! I'm so happy!

A day before the Coldplay gig at Rock in Rio here in Brazil, I had the chance to participate of a Meet & Greet with Coldplay. I won a competition in which I had to create a creative gift for them. Here the picture of my present. It was a mockup inspired by Mylo Xyloto.

The Winning Gift

How was it done?

When the great day arrived I was very anxious. First because it was the day I would meet the band that most influenced my life and shaped who I am today. Second, because I did not know how to act in front of them.

Well, they stayed at the Hotel Fasano in Rio de Janeiro where it happened the Meet & Greet. I went through a corridor to reach the hotel bar where was playing a new song from Mylo Xyloto. I could not identify which song it was or if it was some of what we already knew, but it was a very beautiful music! Closely resembles the old Coldplay.

They left the music playing around for 60 seconds, in this time the song consumed me in a way so beautiful! Not only for her incredible tune, but because of the moment I heard. I can not wait to hear the complete song. Probably will become a special song which I will carry for the rest of my life. For the description of the reviews that have left over the new album, I think I can be Up With the Birds.

Here comes the big moment. They split the guests into two groups, for some autographs and photos. My group was the second to meet the band. Guy was the first to come to me, I was ecstatic! Inside I was anxious, nervous, I can not explain what I felt at the time, but it was a feeling of extreme happiness. Will and Jonny also came to me.

Chris was the Last to sign my X & Y. When he arrived and saw the box in my hand and said "this is awesome or nice", it was when I remembered that I had something in hand to deliver.

He finished giving autographs to the others and return to get my gift. He liked it so much! I was so happy! He gave me some compliments and thanked my work. He called a person who is named of Andy and asked that she bring this to his room, "Andy, this going to my room." Then we went to take photos with the group. Goodbye to everyone and we left the hotel.

obs:It was not allowed to enter with the camera, EMI took the photos but I have not received yet.

I wanted to say so much things to them, was so little time. Inside the box was a letter that my friend Suzana Fong wrote. She wrote in the name of the entire team of our fan site here in Brazil. But I wish I could tell more things for them. I think they understood how much I worked hard to stand beside them and all my love for Coldplay is there in that box. It's curious because I'll never see this box again, is there in somewhere with them.

Who knows when I'll have another chance to be so close to them again. The next day I was with much anticipation to watch their gig at Rock in Rio and of course I was there. It was an amazing gig and everyone is out there talking about. The highlights of the presentation were the incredibly reception with the new songs, especially with Paradise. When Chris ask to the crowd to jump in Charlie Brown it was fantastic all synchronized with the music, amazing!

Old songs charmed the entire audience. It seems that in every song people corresponded with the same excitement of the band, a sync with the band and audience that we never seen before. The end with Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall was indescribable. I left there exhausted (more than 10 hours waiting to Coldplay) but it was very worthwhile. All the bands did a great job, Maroon 5, Skank, Frejat and Maná.

I will never forget this weekend.

The concert was simply amazing. All the loooong wait, pain and heavy sun on our heads were worthwhile were worthwhile after they've got on stage. Chris' energy seemed to be even greater that day, he simply couldn't stand still. The crowd was wild, specially in songs like yellow and viva la vida. And people went INSANE when Chris wrote "Rio" on the panel with a can of spray. A lot of websites are saying it was the best Rock in Rio concert, beating up Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Stevie Wonder and Guns and Roses.

They've really got the audience's attention. Everyone seemed to be really enjoying it and i must say that Chris' portuguese improved very much from last year, haha

Me and my girlfriend watched the concert together last night. We do live in Brazil, but it's far from Rio and also I'm physically unable to stay among such a crowd.

Nevertheless it was absolutely magical. We were downright amazed throughout the whole time. I'm so proud everybody at the crowd could sing Paradise, I hope the band was happy.

My favorite moment was when Chris spraypainted "Rio" on the wall. A very nice touch.

I do have a question for your guys. I'm sorry if it was mentioned before, but did Coldplay have a biggest crowd than this one? 100.000 people if I'm correct.

I feel like I have to post a tiny review, because this was one of the best gigs they've done... It felt really special, I'm so happy I woke up for this! I watched from my comfy bed. Maybe it was because I'd only slept for four hours, but I cried a lot during the show. (Then again, I am a real crybaby.) Saw a few tears in the audience as well. I went back to sleep afterwards, and my dreams were filled with Coldplay.

The crowd ROCKED, it was the best I've ever seen, thank you Brazilian people! You could tell the band were enjoying every second. I kinda want to hug everyone who was there. The Dutch can learn a lot from you guys.

I think Chris started a little messy, but the second half (Violet Hill!) he sounded amazing. Fix You hasn't been one of my favourites lately, but today it blew me away like it used to. Paradise is stunning live. UATW had the most perfect harmony. Can't wait to hear Charlie Brown's studio version. And Politik... sigh.

I'm looking forward to all the stories!

One last thing: RI♥.

It's funny, because I wasn't even planning on watching tonight. I was over at my Dad's and happened to be on YouTube, and was like, "Oh yeah! Coldplay's about to be on!". We actually watched everything up until Lost! together.

What a freaking fantastic concert Rock in Rio was. Chris, along with everyone else in the band and the crowd, was bouncing off the walls with energy, and it showed. This is quite possibly the best concert has done in recent memory.

Good job, Coldplay! You truly rocked Rio.

[DundahMifflin]

I woke up at 6:30 am on Sunday morning..and it worthed! they were amazing : Chris' voice was perfect as the first summer concert in Germany's Rock am Ring, Will's drums was perfect as in Glastonbury, Jonny was perfect as usual and Guy was perfect as in Scotland. I mean, this concert was the sum up of all summer concerts. ah, and of course the crowd! I watched lots of Coldplay concerts and I've never seen an audience like that.. They were even singing along with the new single PARADISE. Now i can understand why musicians love Brazil or South America.!! they rocked not onyl Rio but also all the internet world!!!

Coldplay and Maroon 5 Rock in Rio: Daily

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – British music sensations Coldplay and American pop and rock hit-makers Maroon 5 wowed 100,000-strong crowds at epic music festival Rock in Rio last night, on the penultimate day of the event. Fans were anxious to see whether Coldplay would preview any of the songs from the group’s new album “Mylo Xyloto” – which is only set to be released on October 24th.

They were not disappointed, with the band playing five tracks from the new album, including three previously unheard tracks, as well as some of the group’s biggest hits.

Internationally-known Brazilian rockers Skank also took their place among the international lineup on the Palco Mundo (World Stage), along with long-running Mexican rock sensation Maná.

The Palco Sunset (Sunset Stage) saw performances from Brazilian golden oldies such as Zeca Baleiro, famous for singing “Lenha” and “A Flor da Pele”.

Also Arnaldo Antunes and Rio’s very own Erasmo Carlos, who performed at the first Rock in Rio festival in 1985 and is best known for singing “Close”, doubled up with music from their 1950s and ’60s rock ’n’ roll Joven Guarda heyday.

All eyes are now on Sunday’s finale, with Guns N’ Roses and System of a Down set to bring the house down. As ever, anyone unable to watch Brazilian TV coverage on Multishow, can watch Youtube’s stream of the epic festival.

Coldplay Shuts Down Rock In Rio

It seems as if Coldplay has played every single major music festival this year. Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits…just to name a few. Add Rock In Rio to that list, as early this morning the band closed the 2nd to last night of the festival in Brazil. Their set was as much visual as it was aural. Starting off with “Hurts Like Heaven“, the band spewed out their classics along with newer tracks off their upcoming album, before concluding with crowd favorite “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall“. Accompanying the music was the massive laser backdrop, fireworks and butterfly confetti. The graffiti inspired set featured painted instruments and flashing lights to kill. Performance wise, Coldplay continued their streak of delighting audiences across the world. The engaging Brazilian crowd sang every chorus, word for word. The only thing I would change, me being there in person. Job well done Chris & gang.

Coldplay know how to paint the town red

IT'S just as well Chris Martin isn't a real graffiti artist – he'd be nicked in no time if he was this obvious.

The singer was headlining with Coldplay at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, yesterday when he decided to get out his spray can on stage.

It looks like he's been taking drawing lessons from his nippers.

Hope the organisers didn't dock his fee for defacing public property.
