Hey guys - I made it into the show and it was absolutely amazing - I'll write a full review w/ anecdotes, and what not - i recorded the full uncut version of UATW which has to be one of the finest moments in Coldplay history - and a moment I will always treasure, btw met Phil Harvey after the show, so gracious, and I thanked him for helping to create one of the best bands in the world - he laughed at the helping to create part.
btw, they were playing the studio tracks from Mylo Xyloto before they came on - and I'm telling you Princess of China sounds amazing - wasn't a fan from the version from youtube, but wow - wasn't sure about Rhianna on it, but I can see how it may work, and may be massive. will post more, and need to figure out how to get video off my phone. Plus took some high resolution photos of the piano. man... what can i say this album is going to be amazing - also heard the studio version of CB (that will be a major hit).

Not sure who watched, but it was a really good 1 hour show. Started with the usual MX/Hurts like Heaven Yellow IMP and Major Minus then went straight to Paradise Viva la Vida Charlie Brown then back to The Scientist, then finished with the usual Clocks Fix You and ETIAW, Chris fell down during it. Quite funny. The Crowd got better as the show went on and unexpectedly Chris came back and said since they were so good they would play one more song. After having issues with mics they did Us Against the World without any mics. Very nice show

For all the negative press Coldplay has been getting by fellow CP'ers....you just need to watch that UATW performance.
That was the reason I like Coldplay.
Unplugged. Spontaneous. Will popping up. All of them genuinely having a great time.
That audience seriously made up for their lacklustre performance during the first half of the show.

Watched the whole thing, so good! I burst out hysterically laughing when Chris fell on his ass And the whole encore UATW moment was so so fantastic, I got teary watching Chris play unplugged and laugh his way through it, and when the other boys joined in... I hope to god someone recorded it!
I love this damn band so much

The improved UATW was the absolute best part. That was probably the most beautiful as they sounded in years (and probably some of the most charming they’ve seemed live in years, when things aren’t polished to a overly-rehearsed routine). This is when they’re at their best to me—when it’s four instruments and voice, and when they do things on whims without it needing to be perfect and contributing to a larger promo campaign.

Coldplaying up on Letterman show
COLDPLAY brought havoc to David Letterman's chat show when they played a spontaneous encore – against the wishes of organisers.
The British band were instructed to leave the stage after performing new single Paradise and told not to play any extra songs. However, Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion ignored orders and carried on entertaining the audience. Even the presence of roadies removing their equipment did nothing to put the lads off.
One of the band's crew revealed: "Roadies commence unplugging and switching off and then suddenly Chris is spotted walking back to the stage. Further chaos and pandemonium ensues as it transpires they're going to do Us Against The World. "Everything works and Chris does a funny intro - tension of the day dispersed." Coldplay then encountered sound issues – but continued regardless. The roadie continued: "For no discernible reason, the guitar pickup cuts out. I'm not sure if someone from the crowd shouted it out or whether it was Chris's idea – but he decides to do it without the mics rather than wait for the fault to be traced. "It's a small enough place that he can project and make it work. It's a total pin-drop hairs-on-the-neck moment. Everyone is beaming as they watch - until suddenly it's made clear that while this works great in the theatre, out in the sound truck for the webcast, no microphones isn't quite so much spine-tingling as just plain silent. Cue more chaos. "Slowly everyone joins in on stage. Will realises that Chris has taken the piano stool, so ends up kneeling on the floor. Jonny and Guy have their volume backed almost to off. The whole thing is just a joy to witness. Completely off the script, unplanned and ramshackle, but at the same time completely wonderful. Just the band and the audience sharing the moment."

Days after their Austin City Limits appearance, Coldplay headed to New York for a slightly scaled down, but no less energetic set at Ed Sullivan Theater on September 20th. Their hour-long performance included a slew of past hits and tracks off their upcoming October 24th release, Mylo Xyloto. While select New York fans had a coveted seat inside the theater, others could watch the set live streamed on CBS.com.
At 8 p.m. Coldplay took the stage as their instruments glowed in bright neon graffiti art. After a brief piano introduction, enigmatic frontman Chris Martin grabbed the mic for "Hurts Like Heaven," off their upcoming LP. Laser strobe lights glistened onstage as he danced.
The band's classic ballad "Yellow" followed to screams as Martin's familiar high vocals resonated throughout the room. Those same shrieks were heard continuously during fan favorites "Viva la Vida," "The Scientist," "Clocks," and "Fix You."
"I can see you clearly, maybe a little too clearly," Martin joked. "We're going to play some new songs you'll probably be a little confused on, but in six months time you won't believe you heard [them here] first."
Though not everyone knew the words, (except a few diehards who sang along) the band exuded confidence on each new track played. Layered guitar textures and a dark bass line electrified on "Major Minus" while sing-along choruses and a heart-pounding drum beat throughout "Charlie Brown," showcased the quartet's tight live set.
Martin ended "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" with boundless energy, spinning in circles and jumping around, before thanking the audience for giving up their Tuesday evening to attend their show. Afterward, the band exited before he reentered solo for an encore.
"Are we still on the Web? Am I allowed to swear yet?" he joked. "We have one more song, it's new but it isn't that bad. This is how we advertise all our songs…it's called 'Us Against the World.'"
After a technical snafu, he restarted the track without a mic and added, "This is about our band and our feelings about each other and trying to do something good with our music and feeling like sometimes we're under attack but nevertheless feeling resilient."
A fitting set closer, the stripped down song transformed the theater into an intimate living room as nothing but Martin's voice could be heard.

Coldplay caused 'chaos and pandemonium' with a spontaneous encore after filming 'The Late Show with David Letterman'.
The 'Viva La Vida' hitmakers had been told not to perform any extra tracks for the audience once the programme had wrapped but frontman Chris Martin decided to further entertain the crowd, despite their roadies already being in the process of removing their equipment from the stage. Their roadie revealed on the band's official blog: 'Roadies commence unplugging and switching off and then suddenly Chris is spotted walking back to the stage. Further chaos and pandemonium ensues as it transpires they're going to do 'Us Against the World'. 'Poor old Hoppy is legging it about stringing cable across the floor and pressing a guitar into Chris's hands. Everything works and Chris does a funny intro - tension of the day dispersed.'
The group - Chris, Will Champion, Jonny Buckland and Guy Berryman - were then hit by sound problems but continued on and gave a 'ramshackle' but 'wonderful' performance. The blog continues: 'Then, for no discernible reason, the guitar pickup cuts out. I'm not sure if someone from the crowd shouted it out or whether it was Chris's idea - but he decides to do it without the mics rather than wait for the fault to be traced. 'It's a small enough place that he can project and make it work. It's a total pin-drop hairs-on-the-neck moment. Everyone is beaming as they watch - until suddenly it's made clear that while this works great in the theatre, out in the sound truck for the webcast, no microphones isn't quite so much spine-tingling as just plain silent. The whole thing is just a joy to witness. Completely off the script, unplanned and ramshackle, but at the same time completely wonderful. Just the band and the audience sharing the moment.'
