4th September 2012 : RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne, Germany

i just come back to concert to mcdonalds at train station. Concert was like a dream for me. And I MET MR. Red cheecks Phil!! Gonna post the pics tomorrow. He was sooo cute [thanks jeremyy]

I just got home,i am not good with reviews. So just a few things. It was absolutely great.I had so much fun,in my opinion it was better than the concert last december. You could see that they had fun playing for us.If i had to pick one favorite song it would be God Put a Smile Upon your Face. I was surprised about Princess of China. It is live better than i thought. My least favorite song was Up in Flames. Nice touch,Chris sang a quick Happy Birthday for Beyonce. I have to go to bed,i am too tired to write. I am already looking forward to Munich next week [thanks Mcllwain71]

WHEW, man, what a night! I'm still totally knackered from it all, but all the waiting (was at the stadion since 8 am) was absolutely worth it every minute! All the fans I met during the waiting time were so freaking nice, it was like a huge family meeting there. We even befriended with 3 of the security members at the waiting lines! It was already an amazing atmosphere before the concert had even started Everybody was so incredibly nice, that added a lot to the experience for me, because the waiting time is the longest one, and if this one sucks, you've got a very bad mood for the rest of the day...

I can't really say anything new about the concert that hasn't been said before, but I noticed some cute little details that others might not have seen . I can't remember during which song it happened, but Chris was just running back from this long X-shaped stage in the middle back to his mic, when he ran past Guy and stroked his head I found that rather adorable. In general he was doing little stupid things with Guy during the whole performance, like leaning half over him, patting his shoulder or giving him his mad looks like he always does! And as someone has said before, lots of Chris/Jonny goodiness on the X-stage.

Man, I just forgot the most important part! Our little Coldplaying group made of Dark_Sofie (Julia), Danceteacher (Jelena), Katja, Jacky, Volker41 (Volker), Claudia (she wants to make an account later on here ) and I all got FOS LEFT tickets and we managed to get a place at the side of the X-stage. I also brought 2 posters to the concerts, that said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONNY" and "HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHIL". I knew that Jonny's birthday is next week, but screw it! Before anything had started, even before the 2 bands before Coldplay had even started playing, there was major Roadie action on stage, and someone of our group shouted "THERE'S PHIL!!!" and we all grabbed the poster and shouted like mad his name in his direction. You should have seen the confused faces of the other concert attenders around us They were like "Who the fuck is Phil?!" So after a few moments of emberrassing fangirl screaming Phil finally turned around, spotted our crazy little waving/jumping/screaming group, did literally a double-take at our poster, smiled, and gave us two thumbs-up! YEAH! Mission accomplished! We also wanted his autograph, but we never came back to us, oh well.

Then, we still had our Jonny poster and decided, that we will hold it up during IMP, when the whole stage is lit up and stuff. So we patiently waited until Jonny stopped walking in every direction BUT us and finally headed towards us. So we started screaming like total psychos again and he looked down at us, and freaking gave us THAT SMILE for like 4 seconds I know it sounds cheesy as fuck, but really, his smile is like the sun xD You just can't help and smile back like crazy when he does that. And then we put the posters aside and went mental. My legs still hurt from all the standing and jumping, my voice is somewhere but in my thoat, but hell, it's great kind of hurt! Can't wait until next week in Leipzig, aaaahhh! *edit: Just wanted to confirm the crappy sound situation from Charli XCX. I couldn't understand a word she said, I just heared BOOOMBOOOMWRRRRRRRRRRRRWUBWUBWUB the whole time They messed up the sound pretty bad. [thanks Twisted Mind]

4th September 2012: RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne, Germany

We arrived after a 3 hours journey at 12am in Cologne and first i have to say that the parking situation was pretty good and quite cheap. We only had to pay 2,50 €uro for the whole day while the parking docs were very close to the Arena. Of course, we have been a bit surprised that there havent been more people waiting, just about 10 at Front of Stage-Right side. The waiting was quite pleasant until one of the security members started to get a bit "unfriendly".. i dont want to explain in detail, all of the people who have been on this entrance too will know what i mean

After a nice run to stadium we got to the first row. AMAZING ! Unfortunately the camera.assistant was straight in front of us so we could barely see the singer. Which is not a big deal because Marina and Chris as well are always on the move We´ve been very impressed by the huge stage, although i had seen it already on various pictures which have been posted in here. So many people have been involved in the stage-setup and i guess now its time to give them a BIG THANK YOU too, they deserve it ! All the people around us have been very nice and gentle, so it was a fantastic atmosphere at the very beginning of the show, excatly as we expected it to be. The stadium in Cologne is perfect for such a kind of concert. Although it is quite huge, it felt very intimate.

The first supporting act, Charli XCX, came on stage at around 7pm and i really have to say that this was a big disappointment. Here singing, presence on stage and especially the sound of the music was awful ! Way to much bass, so you you could barely hear the sound and her singing..which wasnt worth listening to it to be honest. Until now i dont know why Coldplay or whoever selected her as replacement. Sorry Charli, but just jumping around like crazy doesnt make a good singer....Fortunately after half an hour it was over and i´m sure a lot of people in the stadium thought the same.

At around 8pm Marina and the Diamonds entered the stadium, which already was well filled at this time. So Marina, youve been fantastic !!! I really enjoyed every single minute of her performance. She´s a great singer, a very cute person and all the songs sounded great. It would have been better or would be better in general, if Marina would do 3-4 more songs instead of Charli XCX, because that isnt the quality a support act of a Coldplay concert needs. Thanks to Marina and the whole Band, you did an amazing job and today i really went to the shop to buy every record of you

Before Coldplay came on stage, the crowd was in a very good mood, it was already dark outside and everyone in the stadium gots very excited. The Back to the future theme heralded a fantastic concert. When they boys came on the stage, the arena became so loud, it was truely amazing. Chris was in a funny and fresh mood and so was the whole band. Nice joking, great encouragement during the whole show..Chris Martin definitely is a born front man ! So now i give you short review over the setlist. Sorry, its a bit longer than expected !

MX/Hurts like Heaven: Great opener, amazing firework and goosebumbs everywhere. With this song immediately everyone is involved and part of the show, just perfect. 5/5

4th September 2012: RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne, Germany

In my place: I´ve never been a huge fan of this song but when they perfom it live you recognize why its never been dropped from their setlist. Everyone was into it and likes the song The confetti is just beautiful and the interacting between Chris and Jonny is just so nice, brilliant. 5/5

Major Minus: This song live is a beast ! Am not a big fan of the studio-version but on stage its sounds so great, powerful and energetic, i really hope it will be a evergreen on their setlist, just as In my place. 5/5

Lovers in Japan: Here it is totally the opposite. I prefer the album version ! Its not that it doesnt sound good, it does (especially the few other sounds Jonny plays on his guitar) . But i think the song isnt made for Chris´live singing bid, it doesnt feel complete. 3,5/5

The Scientist: I dont think here is much to say, emotional, powerful song, one of their best live with a great sing a long and Chris voice at his best ! 5/5

Yellow: It was a fantastic idea to play kind of piano tutorial of the song at the beginning. It sounds sooooo lovely and is very touching...first time i need a tissue. The rest of the song is perfect as well, again everyone in the arena was into the singa a long. Classic Coldplay ! 5/5

Violet Hill: Is and will always be one of my favourites when they perform it on stage. Just like Major Minus, i love the dark atmosphere of the song and its a great contrast to the Mylo Xyloto-theme ! 5/5

GPASUYF: Coldplay and Rock ? Here it is ! The power of this song in this arrangement is mindblowing, the guitar riffs and drums = A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! 5/5

Princess of China: Really, i like this song. Jonnys guitar riff sounds so great live ! BUT thats it ! Because of Rihanna on screen ( although i was happy she was not on stage) the song totally sounds like on the record. Chris´singing is ok, but nothing special. I dont say it needs to be dropped but the idea with Rihanna on screen isnt he best ! Marina is with them, let her sing the Rihanna part. 3/5

Up in Flames: Maybe the song is not the best on Mylo Xyloto, but to me its kinda nice and cute. The atmosphere shuts down a little, very intimate and everyone can breathe a little before the next part of the show. Good live performance, still. 4/5

Warning Sign: Again, classic Coldplay ! Chris singing is perfect, the songs has superb lyrics and Jonny on guitar is so great, i enjoyed every second of it. After that, the show really explodes...;-) 5/5

AHT/Dont let it break your heart: The song i was looking forward to most ! To be honest, i was a bit disappointed although i already heard various live-performances ! Its one of my favs on MX but it doesnt sound as good live. The drums are too dominant, its hard to hear all the singing and the lovely melody Jonnys plays on guitar. Chris singing isnt the best on this song, i would go that far to say that its the worst part of the whole show. But thats just my personal impression !3/5

Viva la Vida: Everyone knows it, everyone in the stadium loves it and so do i ! Its the perfect live-song and has the best sing a long ever ! Its just fun to hear this song and i´m always so happy when i hear it. This song will be a part of music history, for sure ! 5/5

Charlie Brown: This song is like a rollercoaster. And thats why i love it ! The guitar chorus and main theme of the song is amazing, if youre not jumping on this, get in contact with the doctor And on the other side, the verses are very emotional, especially the "light a fire.."-part is epic ! Cant see the this song being left of the setlist in the future, because it has the potential to be a classic like Clocks, in my opinion. 5/5

Paradise: Definitily sounds great live, but the lyrics remain to weak for me, still. Its one of my least favourite songs by Coldplay, of course it is not that bad. The Paraaa-Paraaa-sing a long is the best part of the song, to me. 3,5/5

Us against the World: Sweet little Coldplay song. Its time for dreamin always when i hear this song...its so reassuring and has a touchy melody. Great singing from Will, would love to hear more of him 4,5/5

Speed of Sound: Am very pleased the song has returned in that way. In former times when they performed it, i did not like it. The acoustic version is brilliant for a live performance, Jonny on guitar is heaven ! 5/5

Clocks: What time is it ? Yes ! Again its time for classic Coldplay. I heard the song several times live and the lasers are always amazing, its still catchy and the song, which brought me to Coldplay (although its not my favourite). I would like to see it back in the main set, not as encore anymore. Instead of it, they should switch various other songs. Swallowed in the Sea or Death and all his Friends are most likely for me, Glass of Water too. 4,5/5

Fix you: Now its getting difficult for me. I know a lot of people love this song but i´m getting a bit tired of it. Its still a very emotional song, the bands performance of it is great. Personally, i would like if they would give this song a break, like they did with Politik and bring it back on the next tour, but not at the beginning. Which definitely doesnt mean i dont like this song 3,5/5

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall: Finally its time for happiness, emotions, jumping, going crazy and singing as loud as possible. The perfect closer for the Mylo Xylotour ! It summarizes the positive vibe of the concert in the best way which is possible. After that you know that you have been part of a great show, with a great band and a great audience. 5/5

Overall: A brilliant live show, they know how to involve the audience and everyone is leaving happily ! Can there be a greater compliment to the band? No ! If there was something negative, the prices at the merchandise are just disenchanted. But thats everyones choice to buy something or not. Finally, huge thanks to Coldplay, the Cologne audience, the crew members, Marina and the Diamonds and the weather, which has been perfectly ! And of course to all the readers, i apologize for the long summary. Best regards ! [thanks Ronnie O Sullivan]

I arrived by tram at the stadium to meet up with our little Coldplaying group at about 8am and it was completely empty apart from two of our friends who had arrived at 3 and 6am respectively. We all had tickets for “Front of Stage left”. Some confusion arose about where to queue – not exactly helped by the above mentioned unfriendly guy from security – as we naturally thought we should be at the entrance marked “FOS left”. But logic apparently had nothing to do with it, so after having been sent round the stadium a few times we finally ended up at the correct entrance, which was on the other side from where we thought we should be. We were quite lucky – shortly afterwards they closed all walkthroughs so anyone arriving after us and heading for the “logical” spot had to walk a very long way around the whole area – through the woods – to get to the “correct” spot.

It took some hours till the next fans arrived, by noon it was so hot we needed sunscreen, at 2pm it was still quite empty. As Thalia has mentioned we had a good time in the queue, making new friends and chatting with the security guys. In fact all the security personnel (with one notorious exception) were very nice. As we had brought way too much we shared our food and drinks with them and they told us a bit about their rather hard and often boring jobs. We also met Chris the “elephant guy” who went to more than 20 concerts of the MX-tour (he is the one holding up a sign on almost all panoramas)

At about 4pm “our” security guys started handing out FOS-armbands to us and as promised we - and the FOS right ticket holders - were let in 10 minutes earlier than everyone else. We took our Xylobands and then had to walk (or run) quite a distance to our entrance but it was no problem to make first line. As Thalia has reported we spotted Phil and he saw our birthday sign. Afterwards we had to explain to some people around us who we had been shouting to.

Then some more waiting and finally Charlie XCX went on. I still cannot say if I like her music – as mentioned before all I could here was bass and her voice was just a background noise. In the last song she apparently tried to get the audience to cheer for Coldplay but as we simply could not understand a word there was no reaction. A pity really. But she had an impressive dancing style and even more impressive shoes. I liked Marina and the Diamonds but though the sound was a little better it was still not good. When she sang with guitar and piano all was fine but as soon as the bass came in her voice was almost droned out.

Some more waiting and finally 99 Problems sounded from the speakers. By that time the stadium was full and instantly people started to shout and sing along – I was astonished that so many knew the lyrics. On the faces of some of the audience you could see the confusion – “What’s so special about this song?” – but when the lights went down and the BTTF theme started playing they caught on.

And then: Coldplay! Xylobands, confetti, balloons, laser-show, fireworks and above all the band. What can I say? I am no music critique, so I will leave that for someone else. I again had the feeling that they gave everything they had and in return the audience seemed to give them everything as well. At least from where I stood it seemed that people sang along to literally every song, old or new regardless.

For me personally the moment when the Xylobands come on is simply undescribable, and during the outro of Charlie Brown I nearly cried as it went so beautifully perfect with the lights. I liked POC better than I thought I would, loved Don’t Let It Break Your Heart and Will singing the end of Us Against The World on his own.

During ETIAW even the security guys were caught in the atmosphere and started throwing confetti at each other.

As always it was over too soon, we collected some confetti, said our good-byes and I went to the tram. The station was full with people but everybody was very nice and as they had the trams coming in head to tail that was no problem. Unfortunately my train does not run that often so I had to wait for an hour and sat outside on the steps of the beautiful cathedral feeling completely drained. In the train I met some Gaga-fans coming from the concert who mentioned her shout-out to Coldplay and made it finally home by 2am. [thanks Danceteacher]

on tuesday i took my first trip to cologne to see coldplay at the rheinenergie stadium. i took the train from here in essen to the main station in cologne, where the view of the towering cathedral greeted me as i walked out of the main doors. i stood in awe for a solid five minutes, taking in its massiveness (as well as the whistling tunes of a busker nearby). i can’t wait to go back to cologne again & explore. coldplay were awesome. i managed to get in front row position at the end of the main middle runway stage, so for a good number of songs they were literally playing right in front of me! the opening songs were my favourite as they were when all the confetti came, the giant balloons, fireworks etc etc. so i can now tick seeing coldplay off my bands to see live list! [thanks Rachel Walker] http://thisisrachelwalker.com/2012/09/08/cologne/

Last night we went to Cologne. There was the British band Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to a gigantic open-air concert. And we were among the 45,000 spectators.

However, we had only once come there. Because that was easier said than done. Typically you need to track only 35-45 minutes. But we were almost 2.5 hours on the road. And, although we did not even had to find a parking space, since we could park at a friend who practically live right on Stadium. So we are going to 18h and 20:45 h were only towards the stadium. The performance of the opening band Marina and the Diamonds was long gone, of course, but that's why we were not come.

At about 21:15 we were off and we were directly from our seats in row 14 from the stage, a great sight. The stage was completely open, thus not covered. The unused bleachers behind the stage were covered with dark cloths and on the stage, there were five large circular canvases that Mr. me very much of " Screen "reminded that since the tour of Pink Floyd" has used Dark Side Of The Moon "for all concerts.

And the spectacle began brilliantly really. The first song, "Mylo Xyloto" and "Hurts Like Heaven" started with fireworks, lasers, confetti rain and a brute sound I though sometimes was a little too loud. But I do not know if this was anywhere in the stadium felt this loud. And there was something new: 45,000 synchronous flashing bracelets! The bracelets, which was presented with every fan in different colors at the entrance flickered and flashed in time to the music. Thus, all the spectators were by clicking on part of the giant light show. Madness!

Coldplay is the first band called Xylobands used at your concerts. The bands are made of a nylon band (in green, blue, yellow, red, pink and white), which are more appropriately colored LEDs and a small plastic box in which the electronics of the radio receiver and the batteries are located. The LEDs can be driven by a transmitter central. According Xyloband the site itself, the different colors can also be controlled separately. But that was not the case yesterday. Even before the concert and at the end was pointed very heavily on disposal in the containers provided. However, I have not seen a think tank and also hard to believe that many of the bands have delivered again. Coldplay reportedly heard the company that sells the bracelets. However, I could not find any information about this binding. The name and the design of the site, however, indicate that Coldplay are at least involved.

The first round, which is the first adoption of the band was already after an hour. After a few minutes it went further and even Chris Martin suddenly stood with his guitar in the middle of the rear interior on a small stage. After the first few bars were added to the other band members and played "Speed of Sound" in an acoustic version. Toll. Especially because we were not far away. Then we went directly to the audience and is returned to the big stage, where with "Clocks", "Fix You" and "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," the grand finals were played. Of course, with fireworks and flashing Xylobands.

All in all a terrific concert evening worked in perfect weather for a place in September-find open air and the return trip even quite smoothly. [thanks Thomas Mielke] http://www.mielke.de/blog/Coldplay-O...in-Koeln--364/ __________________

Koeln.de (translated): COLOURFUL COLDPLAY SHOW AT THE STADIUM

In a brightly coloured world of neon-coloured graffitti, Coldplay had the power over the Rheinenergie Stadium Tuesday night as they were standing onstage as part of their "Mylo Xyloto" tour. 45,000 people watched the colourful show given by the band around singer Chris Martin.

45,000 arms with flashing wristbands were held in the air as Coldplay opened/started their open-air show at 21:09 with "Mylo Xyloto", the title track off their latest album. To kick off the concert, they fired colourful fireworks (rockets) in the air, and costly/elaborate video projections flickered on the 5 round screens that were rimmed with neon tubes.

The British group introduced all songs off their 5th album to the audience in Cologne including the latest single "Princess of China" where duet partner Rihanna at least virtually gave her contribution. Clearly more celebrated / popular were the older songs such as "Viva la Vida", "Speed of Sound", "Clocks" or "Fix You" where Chris Martin let the fans sing alone.

Again and again the wristbands started to flash to the beat and were held in the air again and again. Together with the oversized, colorful balloons that were hopping through the interior, an extremely impressive, colorful backdrop was offered. The "Mylo Xyloto" theme was at any rate not to be overlooked / ignored: Graffitti and neon were dominant features throughout the night, even the instruments and microphones were covered with pink, red, yellow, green, blue and white doodles and writings.

Even all the lights and lamps could not overshadow the stage presence of frontman and singer Chris Martin. Hilarious, the 35-year-old frontman ran back and forth onstage, he jumped around onstage, he wallowed in the remaining confetti shower / rain, and he raged alternating on guitar and piano. From the first song he had beads of sweat on his forehead, and he was sweating so much that he had to change T-shirts 3 times.

As to the other 3 band members, guitarist Jonny Buckland, drummer Will Champion and bassist Guy Berryman, there was little focus on them - they did not seem to bother / care about that. Probably also because they had got used to it after 16 stage years together.

There was no reference to the musical colleague Lady Gaga, who gave concert at the same time in the Lanxess Arena. Instead Coldplay said goodbye after 5 extras at 22:52 with a "Thank you and Goodbye Cologne" - and Chris Martin did so with a peck/kiss on the stage floor. [2]

welt.de (translated): Coldplay thrill fans with the first Germany concert The theme song of the famous sci-fi movie series "Back to the Future" is the first thing that the 45,000 spectators at a packed Cologne Rhein Energie Stadium hear. It is the mood for the first concert in Germany for the British pop-rock band Coldplay on their international stadium tour. It is a show of superlatives - striking, creative and dynamic a concert can not be. Nearly two hours the musicians to frontman Chris Martin on Tuesday night delight the audience with songs from their latest album "Mylo Xyloto", but also with songs from each of their previous studio albums.

After just two songs of the 35-year-old lead singer Martin lying on the ground, soaked in sweat and his eyes closed. He calls out to the audience that he now wants to play "the best show of his life." Around the singer and lights flashing around a sea of lights in all colors of the rainbow - the fans wear bracelets that were distributed prior to the concert and be a key signal synchronously brought to light. A spectacular effect.

Behind the stage are huge round video screens on which live pictures of the concert and sophisticated video effects can be seen. Golden shower of sparks and red glowing fireworks futuristic laser and a storm of confetti show the audience in Cologne, do what you must to a stadium and visually to cast its spell.

And musically Coldplay meet the high expectations. Not only current songs like "Mylo Xyloto", "Hurts Like Heaven" and "Charlie Brown", but also the classics, the band that evening. With devotion and feeling Chris Martin sings "The Scientist" and "Clocks". It seems as if the audience can feel the passion that he puts into every word. The melancholy anthems "Viva La Vida" and "Paradise" are the highlights of the show - a spine-tingling moment when the whole stadium the chorus of "Viva La Vida" sings louder than the anthem of the 1st FC Köln, which is otherwise sung in this place.

After an hour and twenty minutes passed, the band that has sold more than 55 million records, for the first time by her fans. "Thank you for ensuring that I feel so damn good," said the visibly exhausted singer Martin, who previously ran as turned up on the stage back and forth. After a few minutes of applause and cheering followed by the first encore: On a small island platform on the other side of the stadium, the four musicians appear, one after another, and play "Us Against The World". The song they give the fellow artist Beyonce, the 31 on Tuesday its Birthday celebrated. After four more songs is final conclusion: The 45,000 spectators reward the band with several minutes of applause and cheers.

In their constant since May tour Coldplay play exclusively in big stadiums and open-air. The other dates in Germany in Leipzig, Munich and Hanover. [3]

Bild.de (translated): And 45 000 fans celebrate Coldplay in the stadium! Last November, she still gave an intimate concert club before a few hundred fans at E-Werk. Last night they put on it a powerful shovel. Rhein Energie Stadium. 45 000. Sold out. Coldplay! Best stadium band in the world! At 21.15 clock a cry from 45,000 throats shoots into the night dark sky over Müngersdorf. Then wummerm the first bars of their latest album "Mylo Xyloto" from the mountains of boxes. Frontman Chris Martin flits across the stage like a dervish. Two hours Coldplay prove once again that they are the kings of stadium rock. Table confetti. Laburnum. Laser show. Fog machines. Crashing and 23 hits. A perfect show, accompanied by gorgeous glowing bracelets from fans. After the show, the Brit band jetted back to London. [4]

general-anzeiger-bonn.de (translated & edited by Nancy Boysen):Coldplay enchanted / thrilled 45,000 fans in the Rhein-Energie-Stadion "At the end of their set “Marina & The Diamonds" created the right atmosphere for the main event of the evening. "One, two, three" – everyone in the Rhein-Energie-Stadion is to hold the arms up in the air. An unnecessary effort. 45,000 fans aged between 15 and 45 have come with the aim of experiencing Coldplay, one of today’s greatest stadium bands.

When it is finally 21.10 o’clock (9.10pm central European time), Jay Z’s "99 Problems" can be heard. The purpose of this intro becomes clear much later in the concert, as in "Speed of Sound" Chris Martin sings a “Happy Birthday” to Beyoncé , who is the wife of his friend Jay Z, and who celebrates her 31st birthday on 4 September.

After the short instrumental title track off the new, fifth studio album "Mylo Xyloto", Coldplay kicks off their concert in an extremely dynamic way with "Hurts Like Heaven". Confetti cannons and radio-controlled flashing wristbands in bright colours transform the stadium into a sea of lights - a child’s birthday and New Year combined.

The effect is overwhelming, and Chris Martin’s promise to deliver "the best show that you have experienced" sounds convincing despite the extremely high bar set. You do not have to be a diehard Coldplay fan to remember the following 100 minutes as an unforgettable evening. It is the perfect combination of light effects and music that makes the concert a complete artwork.

Chris Martin jumps, runs with flailing movements back and forth on the stage. A big kid embraces the world. You can be sure that everything has been rehearsed, nothing is left to chance. When, at the end of the ballad "The Scientist", a moved Chris Martin calls the audience in Cologne the best audience in the world, you know that it is a lie. He will also say that in the following concert in the Hague – probably at the end of “The Scientist”, because it is intended to be said at the end of this ballad.

However, his gesture of embracing the world is authentic. Here a romantic inspires the world. The great solemn gestures are dangerously on the edge of kitsch. For this, Coldplay is slapped by the music critics. To be an “emotional uncle” is a harmless variant. In “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face”, again the band baptizes the stadium in a universe of thousands of bright lights. 45,000 people merge with a simple wristband idea, lots of confetti, big balloons and a convincing attitude to a big community.

Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman are predictable as a band. Those who attended their concert in December 2011 in the Lanxess-Arena are offered the same setlist. Almost all numbers on the new album are played plus some old hits such as "In My Place", "Yellow", "Warning Sign" and "Clocks".

Enthusiasm knows no boundaries in "Viva la Vida". The same applies to Chris Martin who – theatrically - drops to the stage floor that is covered with confetti. Time and place make the difference tonight (on 4.9.12) when the great emotions are celebrated. Coldplay can spellbind (enchant) the stadium audience on a lovely, warm summer evening. Nobody can copy/imitate that so fast. [5]
